“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitful.” (Hebrews 3:13)
One of the biggest ways that hope wins is when we are intentional about bringing hope to others and sharing it together. When we encourage hope in one another we multiply hope not only to them but back to ourselves. The Bible says that we need to share hope daily with one another. Life really is full of hard blows and hope defeating circumstances. God wants us to make it a daily habit to invest in building hope in one another.
In Romans 12:15 we are commanded to “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Someone said our encouragement multiplies joys and divides sorrows. Have you ever had someone’s words, hugs, or comfort breathe hope in you when you’ve been punched in the gut spiritually? I know I have. I look back and think that I have made it this far because at all of my darkest quitting points God sent me a friend to breathe hope into me.
I came across this beautiful prose by an unknown author many years ago that I wanted to share with you. It is called, “Lend me Your Hope.”
Lend me your hope for a while, I seem to have mislaid mine.
Lost and hopeless feelings accompany me daily, pain and confusion are my companions.
I know not where to turn; looking ahead to future times does not bring forth images of renewed hope. I see troubled times, pain-filled days, and more tragedy.
Lend me your hope for a while, I seem to have mislaid mine. Hold my hand and hug me;
Listen to all my ramblings, recovery seems so far distant. The road to healing seems like a long and lonely one.
Lend me your hope for a while, I seem to have mislaid mine. Stand by me, offer me your presence, your heart and your love. Acknowledge my pain, it is so real and ever present. I am overwhelmed with sad and conflicting thoughts.
Lend me your hope for a while; a time will come when I will heal, and I will share my renewal, hope and love with others.”
Would you do me favor? Would you try and think of 3 people you could contact just to encourage them to hope? I know if we all do this our own hope will multiply.
