21 DAYS OF FAITH - DAY 14 - THANKING GOD BEFORE YOU SEE IT

Rick Warren once said, “Gratitude is thanking God for something He’s done for you but faith is thanking God for something He’s promised to do even when you don’t see it yet.” Jesus said, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 1:24)

This is what Abraham did when he gave glory to God that He was the Father of a Multitude even though he didn’t have any children just because God promised that he would. I remember praying desperately for a friend who had backslid to come back for the Lord. As I was earnestly praying I seemed to sense the Lord say to me, “You need to stop asking for that and begin to thank me and praise me that it is done.” That felt awkward at first. But as I began to boldly just thank the Lord that this friend was back with him and that her heart was turned around I felt great peace come over me. Sure enough it was less than a week that I received a phone call from a friend that said she had called and wanted prayer to give her heart back to the Lord.

It hasn’t always worked out this quickly for me. For Abraham the process took years. But I have found this to be a key principle of faith. You might think about it this way. If I called you up and said that I want to give you $100,000. In fact, at the same time I said, I have already mailed the check to you. What would you do? You would probably thank me then. You wouldn’t say, I won’t thank you now, but when and if I see the check I will thank you. No, because you trust my character and word you would thank me before you saw anything.

How much more should it be true with God. He has promised to meet all of our needs according to his riches in glory. He has promised to lead us through this valley of the Corona Virus and not leave us stuck. Faith means that having expressed our concerns and requests to God we should be celebrating that we have the check in the mail. It is true that victory is on the way.
