21 DAYS OF FAITH - DAY 13 - BORROW SOME FAITH

One of the things I’ve observed about faith is that each of us has been given a “measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3) You may have stronger faith in one area say like finances and I may have a greater measure of faith in another area like healing. The beautiful thing is that we can receive the benefit of each other’s faith. In Roman days the shields they used could actually be locked to the shield beside you. Sometimes we need to lock our shield with another believer to have the faith we need.

In Mark 9:24 we read that a father, who had a son who was tormented by a demon. He brought him to Jesus. In verse 23, Jesus spurs on his faith which had obviously been badly shaken. Probably, he had prayed many times but felt it was to no avail. Jesus said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.” The man said, “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.” I think he was saying, “I have some faith could I borrow some of yours?” It evidently worked because the son was healed.

I think this was behind what Jesus was talking about when he said, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. (Mt. 18:19) There is power in each other’s faith to lift our faith to higher levels. Prayer partners, as it were, can come and add a log to our fire of faith so it burns even brighter.

I remember a time, when I was invited to speak to a large group. I commented that I just didn’t think I could do that. A friend said, “It’s ok I believe God can use you to do that quite well.” That was just the faith lift I needed to be able to be successful.

Let me ask you. Do you have some faith partners? I pray if not you’ll find someone. Let’s help each other take our faith to a higher level.
