PRAYER LETTER FOR CHITONDO ZAMBIA CRUSADE

“Would you come and help us turn our tribe from witchcraft to Jesus?”

This was the question the leaders of the pastor’s association in Northern Zambia asked me, on behalf of Chief Chitondo’s tribe of Northern Zambia. Chitondo is a remote area made up of 12 or so villages and thousands of people, who for most part have lived for generations apart from Christ and in bondage to witchcraft.

I will be traveling with a team to conduct outdoor Jesus rallies, in cooperation with dozens of pastors and churches in the surrounding areas, who have a burden for this people group. Many of them want to plant churches and begin ministries in these villages. Heart for the World will be partnering with them and their vision to break the spirit of witchcraft, lead 10,000 people to Christ, and to plant 20 churches in the next year. We will be traveling to Zambia this August 27-September 17, for phase one of this mission.

I am writing to ask for your prayers for this mission. I believe that God has called me to bring a ministry of power evangelism, of preaching the gospel with signs and wonders, backed by thousands of fervent prayers. Reinhard Bonnke, who has held evangelistic events all over Africa, has seen over 50 million people come to Christ through power evangelism. He stated that the intercessors are “spiritual power detonators”, who bring down the walls of Satan’s strongholds so that the harvest can be brought in. He also shared in his book, Evangelism by Fire, “The burden of a world lost in wickedness lies heavily upon the heart of God. Christ groans, creation groans, sinners groan, believers groan, and the Spirit groans on behalf of all. Then his groans are prayers, translated into eloquence by God for the hope of mankind. It is when we intercede with desires for the lost world that the Spirit ‘helps us in our weakness’, and our ‘groans’ become levers to move mountains.

The following is a prayer guide that I invite all of us to agree together in pray. Some of you may be moved to fast, as well. I was so moved to hear this week, that over 600 Christians in the area near Chitondo gathered to pray for these rallies and hundreds of them have agreed to days of fasting for this event.

Here is a list of prayer points that you can use.

1. The eyes of people’s heart opened to receive salvation in Chitondo and Kazembe.

(2 Cor. 4:3-4) "If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe, they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News.”

2. Witchcraft and strongholds of Satan broken over Chitondo and Kazembe. Pray for

people to be delivered from demons.

Luke 10:17-18) “When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, 'Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!' 'Yes,' he told them, ‘I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning.'”

3. Pray for protection and deliverance for the team ministering and for a vast number of

friends and partners of HFTW to be united in prayer, bringing God’s kingdom in the

spirit to this effort.

(Romans 15:30-31) "I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Pray that I may be kept safe from the unbelievers…"

(Mat. 16:18) "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."

4. Pray for supernatural power and anointing to preach the gospel and this effort will

spark and feed revival throughout the regions.

(Ephesians 6:18-19) "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel…"

(2 Thes. 3:1, MSG) "One more thing, friends: Pray for us. Pray that the Master’s Word will simply take off and race through the country to a groundswell of response, just as it did among you."

5. Pray for unity with all team members.

Kawambwa and Kazembe Pastor’s Association, Heart for the World, Chief Chitondo, Orchard Ministries, Vineyard Zambia, other Christians in Chitondo)

(John 17:23) "I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

6. Pray for the breakthrough of God’s kingdom for church planting and lasting fruit.

Pray for the following 10 church planters.

Pastor Gladys Mzumara Pastor Pascal Mulenga

Rev. Silavwe Rev. Mbale

Pastor Darious Kabwe Pastor Mwelwa

Pastor Daudi Magaba Elder Crusade Bwalya

Pastor Mushika Pastor George Chansa

(John 15:16) "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."

7. Pray for God’s provision for the financial, emotional, and physical cost of this trip.

(Philippians 4:19) "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
